Although cultural alignment between acquirer and target is a key factor in successful integrations, it’s not very common for deals to breakdown pre-LOI or during due diligence because of foreseen cultural issues alone. Regardless of industry, Culture is often times rationalized as “we’ll make it work” as long as all other aspects of the deal are favorable and pass DD.
Has anyone here experienced a breakdown of a deal where the financials and synergies made sense, but discovery of a lack of cultural alignment was enough to stop the deal?
