I am curious to see how many of you are working in companies which have their own M&A and PMI department or if you have a different configuration to handle M&As

Ye, we do have at OMV. There are in-house M&A teams coordinating and supporting the process.

We currently have an in-house M&A team, but we recognise the need to build more experience and refine our approach.

We are in the process of establishing M&A leads across main functional areas (e.g., Finance, HR, IT, etc.); however, they would remain reporting into their functional business units. Their focus would be to get the enterprise to day 1 integration and then help transition the effort to integration leads.

Yes, we do have corporate development team which is responsible for overlooking of the M&A opportunities and leading the transactions with the help of the other teams (legal, finance, tax, HR, IT, etc – depending on the nature of the transaction)

M&A is driven by the Financial Planning and Analysis corporate team in my company.

However, the in-house FP&A team has other responsibilities, such as monthly reporting and analysis and budgeting, and is not dedicated to M&A alone.
Therefore, it is complemented by external advisory teams in various stages of the M&A.

For PMI particularly, external advisors provided templates and general governance tools to guide the process, but PMI is primarily driven by internal functional leads with intimate knowledge of the companies.
