Regarding the role of IT or technology in driving M&A success, one could evaluate the role of technology use for driving the M&A transaction lifecycle (e.g. AI, tech-enabled M&A processes, deal-sites) -or- technology to enable the PMI.
The DD process has a lot of potential to leverage AI. In fact, the Big Four consulting firms are employing AI to streamline their Audit & M&A advisory practices. My company has barely scratched the surface in this area.
Post Merger Integration (PMI) success will be dependent on how well an acquiring company can integrate the technology solutions of an acquired company, or to move an acquired company onto parent company systems, or implement a blend.
I view technology as an enabler for a business strategy. To the degree that Technology enables or hinders an acquiring company to realize the value of an acquired company,.. depicts the degree of success of technology in driving M&A success. Note: great technology can’t fix a bad strategy.
