Does anyone have any examples of past acquisitions that they think in retrospect should have been structured differently? For instance, a Subsidiary merger that would have probably benefited more as a Consolidation merger.

The Daimler-Chrysler merger was structured as a statutory merger, presented as a merger of equals. However, it was perceived as unbalanced, leading to cultural clashes and operational issues. In hindsight, a consolidation merger creating a new entity could have unified the two cultures under a shared vision and leadership, reducing the sense of dominance by one company and promoting better collaboration.
